What are You Learning

"When you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations... You shall be blameless before the Lord your God." -Deuteronomy 18.9, 13

Moses again reminds the people that they belong to God, and are to stand out among the nations of the earth. They are about to enter the land and destroy nations that performed heinous acts of pagan worship. God commands the people who practice these things to be completely destroyed, as well as every element for the worship. Israel is to have nothing to do with the detestable practices, they are to be blameless before God.

When we come to new life in Christ there are things we need to destroy and no longer do. There are practices that we need to refuse to imitate if we are to be blameless. It may involve destroying some magazines or movies we have. It may mean severing some relationships that used to matter to us. It means living differently and standing out.

Men, are you learning to imitate detestable acts or to live blamelessly? Are you pursuing God's standards of righteousness and holiness, or the standards of the world? Are you learning to be more like Christ or more like humanity?

Let us be blameless before God. Let us stand apart and imitate Christ. Let us learn to be holy and righteous.

"Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."

To God alone be the Glory!

Strength and Honor
